HEAR
FROM OUR RECIPIENTS
That's a Wrap! 2019 Year End
We hope you all have had a beautiful 2019. We cannot believe we’re wrapping up year six and entering into our seventh year as an organization. As we reflect on all that has been accomplished over the last six years, we can’t help but recognize God’s provision. As an organization completely run by volunteers, the progress that has been made is clearly nothing short of a miracle. This year you helped us place over 65 guitars with people who needed them most! But we’re not finished yet. Two days from now we’ll be making the final push to send out another 14 before year-end. While each guitar recipient carries a unique story, I wanted to share about one specific recipient that has impacted us deeply this year.
Jesus is missing? Getting Lost in Religious Rhythm
Luke 2 is a popular chapter to blog about this time of year, but I want to jump to the end of the narrative. Long after the little town of Bethlehem, Jesus is a junior higher at Nazareth Middle School. And in verse 41 we read about a twelve-year-old Jesus and his parents — none other than Mary and Joseph. It’s here we’re given a look at one of their religious rhythms. “Every year”.. “as usual”.. they went to Jerusalem for the Passover festival. Luke wants us to know this journey was familiar, predictable, even budgeted for. Every good Jew who was able would maintain this religious rhythm. It was out of devotion, remembrance, and it was often one heck of a party. You’d take a week off of work, catch up with old friends and family, and reignite your heart for the things of God. “Every year”.. “as usual”… it was rhythmic.
Potlucks, Astro Vans, and the Value of REST
We simply become the skeleton or the function of what we're meant to be, leaving our hearts and souls on the side of the road somewhere along the way. Our souls are like any other part of our body. If we don’t enter into rest and nurture our souls, they will slowly dissolve.
Let it go. Trust me. I've tried it.
Yet, I'm not sure if you've noticed, but there is this whole world outside of ourselves that we can not
control, and situations that we can’t see coming. I do not like this one bit. I am often found dangling
between the steadiness of the safe world I’ve created for myself and the chasm of reality below me like a
rock climber on the face of a cliff.

Hungry Bellies, Have No Ears. GFG and Elevating Christian Ministries
One of my favorite parts of Guitars for Glory is the partnerships with some of the coolest people around the world. Towards the end of 2017, we were blessed with the opportunity to partner with a leather company based in Alabama. Growley Leather has been a true blessing to our ministry, as Brian and Kelli are two of the most genuine and caring people, shown in each of their products. Their hearts align with the vision of Guitars for Glory, and I am extremely thankful for a chance to pair with them.
